lol I noticed! I want to remake parts of my sim in mesh but not if too many non-cool people won't be able to see it
Someone I know doesn't ... and I wish he'd see this plurk.
I finally gave up the ghost & moved on, prior to becoming a mesh hair whore, b/c my older viewer was starting to run like crap.
Anyalia: lol maybe you need to drop a strong hint
lol I've been working on it... seems his computer is not very accepting at the moment.
i know some folks who don't.
Aurora_Yorcliffe: Ooh maybe a lotta people will be in the same boat and switch over
Honestly, it would be nice to see how many do or don't use mesh viewers.
Anyalia: I agree, it would give content creators a better idea of how much time to invest in making various mesh items
i tried to look for viewer statistics like that because I am curious how many use what viewer
but I know I'm a slow moving person and I do use a mesh viewer but on my mac I do not because if I am on the mac I just am getting business
done. I am not building or anything
kesseret: Thanks Kess! That's helpful info. I've noticed some friends of mine who are also slow to switch have finally gone mesh as well
I'm making products in mesh exclusively but holding back on store changes in mesh due to older sculpty generated lines.
everyone i know is using one. I cant imagine not using one at this point
G0s: That's cool! Ff you're doing mesh exclusively I'm guessing a good amount of your customers have switched over to the new viewers
LexiMorgan: Same here Lexi. Anyone not using a mesh viewer is missing out
Freq: Wow! I didn't think viewer1 worked anymore lol. They crazy!
I know some people who don't always use a mesh viewer simply because the mesh viewers can be a bit harder on an older computer.
We must make ALL the mesh things and make everyone convert! If they're able to
pretty much everyone i know, finally switched over to a mesh viewer
SanuraSnowpaw: Good to know! I wonder how much of the SL population is on old computers
mechadollie: lol Alice that was what I wanted to do at first but I don't want to alienate my longtime customers who might be on old viewers
yeah there are some who have a POS laptop, or desktop, but i know the lindens have been making v2/v3 a priority on their end
rumors have spread that LL would shut down v1, i know alot of people panicked. especially where it has been a year since v2 came out
but rod has said, v1 wont be shut down, but honestly, v2 has been out for over a year. LL should just shut down all v1, tpv or not
mesh has been out for over 6 months
katat0nik: I also was told that LL was going to shut down the outdated viewers, doesn't seem they have...but that was a factor too.
its time people to gtfa from v1. LL has given everyone more then enough time to save up to update their desktops, if their on a laptop
newest firestorm is good for even older computers.. & the stats i heard are that less than 15% of the grid is on a non-mesh enabled viewer..
and its old, they had more then enough time to save up to buy a new laptop
therandomslife: Ooh thanks sunny! Where did you find those stats? (welcome to plurk!)
i know v1 is very stable program. the Lindens been working hard to get v3 just as stable. but v1 is outdated. i feel like im using
MainitHellman: Yes! Exactly. It might be stable but it doesn't really represent what SL is today.
thats why im glad the lindens did make the new rules for TPV's
MainitHellman: just saw the new TPV policy, nice to know LL wants consistent quality. Hopefully it won't hold back more innovative TPVs
a developer in the firestorm chat gave those figures.. i think that linden lab has also given the same figures too.. not sure where
I said for a long time that they'd have to pry V1 from my cold, dead pixelated hands, but had to switch to V2 for film work. Switching to V3
was easy after that. Mesh convinced me!
most everyone i know, but there are a few whose computers won't handle a mesh viewer, and upgrading their computer is cost prohibitive
1angelcaresWriter: Nice! It's cool to hear from someone who was hooked on v1 and made it all the way to v3
mishaselene: I can totally understand that. When v2 came out I was on an old computer and could barely handle it. v3 probably would've been
out of the question back then
As of Feb 13 this year over 70% of SL residents use "modern viewers" I'm assuming he meant v3
A friend of mine cannot run any mesh viewer because his mac version is too old.. he is waiting for
his upgrade though.. but there is more reason than "grabbing hold to the old" for not changing to mesh viewers
chandnikhondji: Aw! Hope he can get his upgrade soon

SL will be a whole new experience
SLEXTRAVAGANZA: Same here - I would rather keep my old build until I'm sure nearly all SL people can see a new mesh one (for a store)
chandnikhondji: I wonder what spec his Mac is .. I'd have thought a relatively inexpensive graphics card upgrade would suffice?
But if he's running an old iMac he's probably stuffed.
I'm on an old PC. Can't upgrade graphics any more, no room in case for modern cards. I find v3 runs much better on it than v2 did.
V2 was bad. V3 is much cleaner. When v2 came out M linden just rushed it together. And put it poorly together
rod had to fix everything and made v3 better
Yeah, I was worried about this too. My newest build is ALL MESH
Mochimochi: Ooh nice! I need to go check out your new build!!
