seems like nothing but back to back mistakes to me
like they are actively trying to sink LL
I've been fading away from SL slowly. I think this does it for me.
Can you imagine the griefing issues we will have with 16 year old boys let in?
Not to mention all of the sexual problems it will cause.
I don't understand why they thought this was a good idea
are they thinking they'll gain a huge revenue stream from the teens?
Can you seriously tell me that you don't think that 16yo's who want to be on the main grid aren't there already?
There are already teens on the grid. There are already teens griefing the grid. Now we're going to get the honest teens.
That still doesn't mean I want to interact with them in any way.
no, I know they are there, but why open yourself up to all kinds of stuff by allowing it?
There have always been teens on the main grid.
There were a couple of underage content creators who were allowed to stay as long as they played nice.
the difference is that the teens already on the grid have broken TOS and possibly laws to get where they are.
that makes us not legally liable for what they see and experience. Letting them in changes that.
to me, it'd not so much that they want to make more money off these teens as...
the fact that it is costly to maintain a seperate grid JUST for them.
i don't disagree that it has a lot of potential issues as far as US as Residents dealing with them, but yeah, i agree - the ones who
wanted to be on the MG in the first place wouldn't have been dissuaded by needing to be on a seperate grid in the first place.
what i DO find is a tragedy is the lost educational areas that no one outside of the TG/educational community ever hears about.
there are a lot of lost areas
Peggy Sheehy gave some very compelling reasons for maintaining educational virtual world spaces.
(at her presentation at SLCC)
I think you guys are over reacting anyone can signup for the adult grid if they lie about their age i'm sure there is plenty of young ppl
already in the adult grid, they now can be honest about it without getting in trouble. I know a few that are more mature then the 'adults'
It will bring more customers, more people and more talent as well as the grief
ajaygiano: that's just it -- they had to LIE. That put the responsibility on them and their parents. With them allowed on the grid, you and
I and now responsible for what they experience. I don't want that liability.
the dishonest and the griefers were already here. The problem though, is liability of adults interacting with minors
and most of these teens will be having unpaid accounts?
