the thing is they settled based on options presented by Nintendo on behalf of the court, I don't think it sets precident which is probably the only silver lining

at least that's good. here's hoping nintendo doesn't try to sue every other emulator

sokky: knowing Nintendo it's probably just "they aren't allowed to sell our software (via emulator bios integration), their work can stay as long as it doesn't promote piracy" so honestly not much changed from every other lawsuit.

if you use even as much as one of their textures they get all pissy about it very quick

like yuzu already asked for stuff, but some things came pre-installed, which i think was enough ground for a lawsuit

well the interesting thing is they didn't supply or use the firmware, they reverse engineered it
the only issue that I think killed yuzu was that they demanded you gave "donations" in order to access nightly builds for years, which everyone hated and disagreed with

basically it was free but then to get the latest features you had to pay for them
no matter which way you slice it that's having a paywall and profiting from piracy in Nintendo's eyes

ironically, Bleem! was a commercial emulator you had to pay for for a current Gen console at the time, the PS1, so idk how that isn't just as guilty

FPSe was a paid ps1 emulator up for purchase until not too long ago so i guess sony just doesn't care as much about it

and whatever ppsspp plus/gold was

ppsspp's donations were literally just that, but it got you the custom branding and nothing more
