does anyone else think it's significant that Robert is the only character named in Cathedral? As opposed to his wife, her officer, etc.

I think it is significant because the story is about struggling to accept others' identity. s
So, that would make sense because if he struggles with accepting others, then it would make sense that the story would only be about him
oooo yeahh i like that a lot. but didn't the blind man's wife have one, Beulah or something?
yes that was the blind mans name bc they referenced it sounding like a "black name"
i mean the blind mans wifes name....
I think also the reason the husband isn't named is because he is an "everyman" of sorts...
...because let's face it, everyone has given into stereotypes or prejudices at one time in their lives...
...I think Carver was trying to get us to identify with the husband. That way his epiphany at the end would be more effective.
BUT...I didn't see it that way. I felt the marijuana drastically altered any type of optimism...
the reader could take away from his "epiphany".
i think carver wanted us to relate to robert but i also feel like he wanted to keep the blind man kind of a mystery-
there is very little description of him
