overall, now that we've finished Invisible Man, what were everyone's impressions?
latest #11
I enjoyed the first half but then i started to lose interest.
I thought it was great! I did feel kind of empty. I really wanted the narrator to come out on top, but he ended up just as lost as ever...
I did see the relationship between he and Ras the Exhorter/Destroyer as sort of a symbolic representation...
...of Washington vs. DuBois. The narrator was looking for gradual progress while Ras was looking to push it.
the same way as the first response
I thought the beginning was kind of slow, but once the Brotherhood got involved it picked up speed.
My favorite part was the riot in Harlem. It felt like a good climax and the Brotherhood's endgame was finally revealed.
I really liked the riot scene too. It was a sort of denouement, where all the deception was revealed. Loved the nightmarish imagery too.
there were parts that i liked more than others, the eviction of ther elderly couple stands out to me
i appreciated the book and what the message was, but it's not going to be a favorite
loved it- was glad we spent so much time on it too
