Maggie, though I appreciate it as a valuable work, was painful to read. I can't recall the last time a story made me so angry.

Me too! And, once again, it seemed anticlimactic in the end. Hated that stupid mom!!!!
It was just very violent for my taste. Everyone was beating up everyone else for no reason.
It was so unjust. Personally, I think that Maggie was the most moral character in the story, and to have her reputation slandered by...
her mother, if you could even call her that, was outrageous.
How accurately Crane portrayed the American Society and human nature at the time the book was written?
this does man me uneasy too. But sometimes I feel like I can relate with it in hearing similar real life stories.
I know, i just felt as though the details were really sad to hear; almost too graphic
it was an unfortunate story, but I enjoyed this piece the most so far, I thought Crane wrote a very good story.
