that plurk is more like a multi-threaded chat room than a microblogging platform. Thoughts?

i guess I always thought microblogging was rather more like chatting
LChamp says

call it what you like...talking in short spurts is chatting rather than story telling

I hate the term microblogging

definitely some truth to that!

pritcharddesign Hate it though you may, the term does describe, at least to some extent, what I an many others use Twitter for:

expressing the short, quirky thoughts that don't necessarily merit a full blog post.

Sometime, these spark discussions, but not always and that's ok.
smithereensblog

But here on plurk I find everything so fluid that I literally feel like I'm in ... chatroom 2.0 lol
LChamp says
it's much easier to carry on a discussion in plurk...I think I've left twitter for good
smithereensblog

And by the way, I'm not saying one or the other is better - but rather that they are different. (OK I'll shut up now ;-) Carry on!)

Lexibaby That's hilarious. And blogging doesn't even kick you in the stomach.

why do we always have to label things? :-P
smithereensblog

shadeofmelon Not labeling, per se. Just sharing my thoughts on the experience so far, as a new plurker.

I agree with smithereensblog Plurk feels more like ChatRoom 2.0 :-D

I would agree.
Gwenny thinks

it is easier as well . . Plurk is about interaction, where Twitter is more like solo activity. :winkwink:
tmatzner says

agree with smithereensblog. But today Plurk is more Twitter than Plurk #lazyslowness
smithereensblog
lol hey now, no need to Twitter-bash ;-) I've met some great ppl on Twitter too, but it's definitely not as real-time interactive as plurk

And PS it looks like the old Digg rule ("If you want Diggs, talk about Digg") applies on Plurk too ;-)

Gwenny asks

smithereensblog to consider the statement: Sometimes talking to yourself is the only intelligent conversation. ;-)
smithereensblog asks

gwenny: But at what point does that intelligence devolve into insanity? When you start replying?
smithereensblog
In case it wasn't clear.. I meant "when you start replying" as in... replying to yourself... not as in "when gwenny starts replying" lol
Gwenny says
it could be insanity when I reply to you as well. ::giggle::

Jeremy Newton says

Yeah I think it can work more like a chat room for bloggers. you have some things like twitter but then you have everything else.
Jeremy Newton says
it makes me wish I found plurk alot faster than I did with twitter ha ha
LChamp says
i really never got too into twitter...too one-sided for me...convos were just too difficult
Jeremy Newton says
exactly thats what I didn't like basically I saw it as facebook and myspace friend status updates lol
Jeremy Newton says
everyone just kinda used it to update their status and it stayed at that. Never really went much farther

smithereensblog Love the multi-plurkings up there. Also dislikes "microblogging" but I agree that it's accurate.
