Finally got an answer from Merov Linden: SL 2.0 will NOT be closed source. (there will be regular SL 2.0 source, AND Snowglobe 2.0)

A theory: most people who like SL 2.0 use a wide screen, and most people who dislike use a narrow (4:3) screen. Wrong? Right?
