Seems like everyone is too old for Christmas magic, people did not care to wake up to open presents before church (which everyone rolled with even though DH is the only one who cared to go) and now we are sitting at Starbucks with little interest in getting home and open things.
I miss the days when everyone woke up early eager to see what Santa brought. Does not help that I am up at 6 like every other day. Feeling old today for some reason.
It was close to 10am before all four of us were awake at the same time, but we had a nice relaxed morning together. We had tea, opened presents, and then played a new board game together. It helps the the kids and DH finally managed to get me some nice presents as well this year, so it didn't feel like I was the only one putting in effort.
I'll be sad when that happens, though it might be inevitable. It was a struggle to get the ILs upcat a decent time to do gifts and they wanted to do breakfast first. Nope!
It's definitely different, although this morning C woke us up at 8:30am, which is very early for her, we did open gifts and have breakfast before seeing Wonka.
same here. I was up at my usual. Ron rolled up around 8? Peter came down around 9 or 9:30. Presents were pretty meh this year. No one needs anything or particularly wants anything. We are going on a little vaca next week, so that is our gift. Peter worked on a final project all day (he has 4 due by Jan 15). Not the holiday it used to be.
We did present opening quite late, maybe 1pm? because we hosted both ILs (my MIL doesn't "do" mornings). No stockings this year so no chocolate, candy or cookies to snack on...so it's a good thing we had brunch first. We did another round of gift opening after dinner with my parents.
(incidentally my MIL was whiny about DH not staying at the hotel to watch a sailing race with her; it was nearly 10pm! This is partly due to MIL staying on Cdn West Coast time when she visits, were in EST.
