This is a bit of brain dump. We had birthday dinner for G last night (22) and I woke up with throbbing migraine I have not had in ages, in spite of having just one drink. Is it getting old (I know I tolerate alcohol less, but never have more than 1 drink now) or something else? I actually threw up.

And then this morning I go for a morning walk to the park with my coffee to clear my head, and I got a hard hit on the side of my head out of the blue. Some guy was throwing tennis ball to his dog and missed by about 10 feet. What on earth? So now my head is about to explode.

G has just accepted a new job in Philly and it stresses me out even though it is a very good thing for her. Current job is remote and living at home and often working on her bed is just not good for her. But it is a big change, for the most part I liked her to be back, and now she is leaving.

A is doing well but still struggling with shin splints, now that their fall season ended I hope he can get some rest and feel better but he does not seem to ever rest and nothing else that we have tried has helped. But he is an adult and has his way of doing things so I try to let him be.

I am doing early election again, and there is a bunch of needless drama which I have no patience for. Same local crap that seems to be happening most places, and people more and more out of control.

And I just heard that a close friend from G's elementary school days died of heart attack. She was totally fine in the morning, and we went to see her show (she was singer/performer) a couple months ago and she was awesome and happy as ever. She was the person that kept everyone together even as our kids went their separate ways, and made sure we kept in

touch. Now she is gone like that, my age too. It was so unreal to get the call, and now read on FB all the memories, she just sent her youngest to college a couple months ago. Ugh.

Sorry this is mainly a vent, I am debating whether to take more drugs but I scaled way back on my advil consumption in the last year and so now it is really upsetting my stomach. And I just feel sick on all fronts, but it is likely more mental than physical.

That is a rough day! :-(

If you can take more Advil with some acid-relief it will help. I'm sorry there's a lot going on. Congrats to G on her new job! Will she commute or live in Philly now?

ms_1516 I think I will just want to make sure I can take enough at bedtime. And the fact my stomach is so upset is messing with me, I pretty much lived on Advil for 2-3 years and this never happened.

And yes G is moving to Philly, much too far for her to commute on regular basis. Though close enough for quick visit by her or us pretty much anytime as trains are frequent and not bad drive either.

It is much better location than other places she considered, but still it is kind of a big move.

That's a big change if you weren't expecting it and she's been home (and A just barely out in school).

But nice that it's not far!

Yes it this though feel bad whining comparing with your situation it is NBD. It kind of came out of nowhere she was not supposed to look again till the spring but she had interviewed with them over the summer and they called.

Do not even - we all have whatever things we have, plenty have it worse than me, I'm sure. I think it's awesome that she found something and that it's not terribly far so you can still see each other pretty often!

OMG I can't believe you got hit in the head by a tennis ball. Ouch. Hope you feel better fast. I have mostly stopped drinking wine b/c just about any wine leads me to feeling sick. Liquor I can usually do but who knows how much longer that will last.

karenj Right? I do pay attention to the dogs as most are off leash in the morning and some will jump on you with no warning while owner will yell 'she is friendly' from afar. But I never thought I'd have to watch for balls too. Part of me wonders if it could have been intentional, but I have never seen or interacted with him before

Great to hear about the job but I'm sure it was a big surprise.

Re the feeling ill. I'd just put it down to chance unless it happens again. Could be food, random virus, anything. I hope you're feeling better now.

If G wants a contact in Philly (until May), Peter's high school BFF is at Penn. She's a solid citizen (if anything, maybe a little too solid...but very kind).

Let me know if I can help with anything here also. I would be happy to assist!

webhill Thank you! I may pick your brains with regards to neighborhoods if I can, her office is on Market St. (near Liberty Bell supposedly) and she wants to live in the city in a young neighborhood. M lived there so thinks he knows it all but it has been 30 years and I assume the city has changed.

They are going down this weekend to try to narrow down neighborhoods (G has actually only been to Philly a handful of times, most recently just to tour Penn 5 years ago) before we begin the apartment hunt.

DH lived in Manayunk when down there which we rather like but she wants to be more in the city closer to the action, whatever that means.
