my cousin recently got a tesla and got into an accident with it (thankfully no one was hurt). her brakes failed on her when turning left and the car crashed into a wall.
the dash cam shows her turning left kinda late and then just heading straight forward and into the wall next to the opening
she took her leg off the brake and it didn't slow down, so she used the brakes but it still didn't slow down enough for her to make the turn
since no one was hurt and she hadn't gotten the car checked before (to invite lemon law), no lawyers or anything will take her case and the body shop won't check the brakes to see if anything had broken
they told her to make an appointment with the Tesla service center, which wouldn't have an opening until October
so I guess now the question is, is there a department or something for Tesla where one can direct complaints or reports of brakes failing
and what should be the next steps after that?
is this a new tesla or a used?
it seems unlikely that tesla software caused it
I'm so glad your cousin is safe. That's so scary
The car didn't accelerate, it just apparently didn't slow down when she took her foot off the gas pedal. unfortunately, there's no evidence showing that she did that, so \o_O/
if it is a model 3 or a model y there is a history of brake failures in those models specifically as well as ambiguous stories of failures in other models
lasafara:
fun. so what do, is the next question
what does insurance have to say about it?
(you can tell I've never done this before cuz I never even thought to ask these questions)
I think they said their insurance is with Tesla, but lemme ask
"Tesla insurance told me thay are waiting for the estimating report from the Body Shop" so nothing yet?
