i dont think things will stop any time soon. there will be stubborn outrage and i think today will be a catalyst i hope im wrong.

I’m feeling foolishly optimistic. I won’t be surprised if something happens, I just hope all the security precautions are enough.

I'll be thinking of you all... just as I have for the last four years. I hope it all goes smoothly with no violence.

Demonstrations are not unusual and I doubt they'll be violent due to all the safeguards that are in place. I'm sure they've also noticed all the federal arrests from 1/6 so that should help keep the peace as well.

Also, I'm watching the departure right now and they still don't know the meaning of the lyrics to CCR's Favorite Son because that was being played to his crowd gathered at Andrews to send him off.

Like others, I believe there will be attempts at insurrection — I'll frankly be surprised if there aren't — but hopefully security and protections will be sufficient this time.

I'm not sure if this has been done in the past but there is bulletproof glass in front of the lectern at the capitol.

Yeah, nothing happened on-site, and that's fantastic. Of course, it's still possible that there was activity off-site that law enforcement caught before it made it to the capitol, but if there was, we probably won't know about it for a while.
