i think it came from....... a bra
So I was wearing a bra maybe five days ago, YOU KNOW, AS YOU DO, and it felt sore and tight on the right side of my chest and in the end I ditched it. Fine, okay. Next day it felt like my skin was really sensitive and sore to touch, and I felt a little bruised? But there was nothing there, so whatever.
Fast forward to now, and I have lil patches of angry raised rash on the right front of my chest (under the boob rather than on it, which is. better?! i guess), some really angry raised bumps on my side, and quite a lot of spread rash on my back. But all focused on that right side of the torso, nothing on the left. what happened?!
It still feels bruised as well, though there's no discoloration to match that. Just feels like I got punched in the ribs or something, sometimes it's fine and then I breathe a certain way and just get that bruised twinge, you know?
Weirdly the rash isn't even a tiny bit itchy, but it's still sore and sensitive. I'm trying to just assume it was, like..... a dust. mite? or something? is that a thing? Or even some kind of really aggressive heat rash, I don't know. I don't honestly think it could be anything too bad, I've literally not left my house in three weeks.
Suffice it to say the bra went into the washing machine, but given how this has continued on I'm starting to think I might not ever wanna put it back on anyway.....
After writing this I felt like it was.... actually genuinely weird enough to warrant investigation, and after calling the NHS helpline (god bless the nhs, part 2896275642) and having a video call with a GP, turns out it's shingles!
Fortunately that means it shouldn't be much worse than a few weeks of discomfort and taking some antibiotics! It's nice to have a reason, hahaha, and I'm really glad that bra isn't suddenly cursed because I like that bra, damn it!
Because I'm already in 12 weeks of lockdown for my compromised immune system and whatever, I've got a local friend kindly collecting the prescription for me.
And now I have it! Five times a day, hahaha. Let's do this thing.
D: oh damn I hope you feel better soon
It's good having a name on it though, at least I know what to expect now. IT WAS A SURPRISE.
This morning things look and feel pretty similar to yesterday. Apparently this rash can leave scarring, which will be another delight to add to my collection! But we'll have to wait and see about that.
We talked about this elsewhere/earlier, but I'm still sorry you had to deal with this on top of everything else.
On the plus, weird as it is to say, I'm glad you were able to actually have someone to get in touch with to figure out what the problem was so swiftly.
