We got woke up last night at 2am to sirens, the dog barking, and our daughter bursting into our room yelling, "The neighbour's house is on fire!" The fire started in the garage, they don't know what caused it yet. Everyone got out safely, even their annoying chihuahua. The garage is gone. The house has a lot of smoke damage (more)
and damage from where the fire fighters had to break open walls and ceilings to make sure everything was out. The back of the house is just char, which is impressive considering they have a brick house. Their hot tub caught on fire as well, I THINK from the massive amount of heat. Clothing, blankets and such are salvagable (more)
but anything plastic melted from the heat. They were in the process of fixing up the husband's mother's old house to move into so they do have a safe place to go. I am not fond of my neighbours, but I wouldn't wish something like this on anyone.
As a funny, at 2:30am and really not awake, all I could think of was "those firefighters are NOT practicing Social Distancing!" My 13yr old informed me that I was not funny.
house likely has water damage or possibly structural issues if they were pulling down walls and ceilings. also the insulation will be all over everything. Just from the reasons they tore down the house next door.
