Hello! I thought I'd share some things that have been going on with me because that's what plurk is for, right?! So, this past year has been the hardest of my life so far. Last August it was discovered that my mom needed open heart surgery to fix some valves and her aorta but they wouldn't give her clearance for it because they needed to make sure her
liver was functioning correctly along with other things. In the process of checking out her liver it was recently discovered that she has a cancerous tumor on her liver. Due to her weak heart, surgery just isn't an option to remove it. So we've been going back and forth with doctors trying to figure out a plan etc.
Then in November my baby brother had heart failure and was in the hospital for a bit. It was pretty serious but thank God he's now doing so much better. Needless to say, that stress and worry combined with what was going on with my mom felt overwhelming at times. Now, a couple of weeks ago another brother of mine wound up in the hospital with complications
from diverticulitis. It's basically just been a shit storm of sorts. Finally today, though, the oncologist called to tell my mom that the cardiologist has agreed to do the heart surgery since that's the most urgent due to the tumor not growing much in recent months. It's a bit of a relief to finally have something moving forward with that.
I guess I just really wanted to share this because even when you feel like you're going to drown under the brutal waves, it's so important to try to find something to hang on to. For me it's my faith and family and friends. We're still in the waiting game with seeing how things pan out, but by god, I'm just grateful to have this moment of life.
Oh my goodness, all that back to back has to be emotionally battering- I hope you're taking the time to give yourself a break from the stress, too! Your mental/emotional health is just as important as your family's physical health
floorplanSL: When I read what you wrote about how you've been taking care of your sister, it really touched me and I could relate so much to that feeling of having so much to do and then also that need to meet a deadline because reality is we need money. I hope things turn out well for you as well.
so sorry to hear all that. That's a lot to weather at once for one family! Praying that things get less stressful and more hopeful in the coming weeks and months.
