If you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask them here, email them to
[email protected], or to hit me up on Discord at guildenfern#1332.
Otherwise, I'm halfway through a 14 hour train ride stuck in Pittsburgh, and our power keeps cutting out, so I'm gonna try to sleep.
it okay if you've never D&D'd before, but have played a tabletop RPG other than D&D for years upon years?
SirDudeOfGol: Absolutely! And it's honestly fine even if you're already familiar with d&d. In cases like that, I just ask that you keep in mind that you'll be playing with people who are new to tabletop, and that the goal is
to teach them the basic rules and to have fun, not necessarily to minmax or to "beat" anyone else. It's important that everyone playing feels as comfortable as they can, because I want people to speak up and ask the kind of "dumb" questions they can't when hopping into games where everyone already knows everything.
komikbookgeek: Try refreshing and trying again now? It should be working!
IMPORTANT NOTE: If the times don't work for you, or you'd prefer to not learn in front of a group, I've prepared a small mini-game that I'm happy to try running one-on-one with people.
That's more of a pilot "see how it works" thing 'cause I've never just DMed for one before, but if you've got performance anxiety in front of folks, I'm happy to give it a shot!
I'm gonna add this to the website, but I've just hit hour 15.5 on this train and I'm not dragging my laptop back out right now, hahahaha.
HOPEFULLY I can get some sleep and be able to stay awake this time
this is a really lovely idea! replurking
Ok I'm doing this this is happening
farlichu: Thank you!! I've run teaching games for over 40 people at this point. It's great for DM practice.
shibes: It was so hard to choose between that one and the one about soggy cheese sticks.
Okay, as a DM who has run a bunch of teaching games, I fucking love this as a concept. Like, this is awesome.
ur right she was lemme fix
The_Raging_Nerd: I love doing it! I have a couple of Tips if you'd like them - I've got one that REALLY makes these games run smoothly that I'm actually super proud of, ha.
I've done it enough that I feel super comfortable with it, but if you need a hand, I'd love to help out in any way I can
centerfold: I might get with you if that's an earnest offer! Do you have discord? Slots usually fill up quick and I'd love to expand slightly, especially since there are some days I'm completely unavailable to run.
Both of you! Shoot me a line at guildenfern#1332 at your convenience if you don't mind.
accepted both! shoot me a line when you're done with the call- I'll be in and out all day, phone signal permitting
aaaa i signed up for one but i forgot to put my discord. do you want me to pm you now?
Chiming in to say this is a really lovely idea. I'm an old guard tabletopper and don't really like D&D but man, kudos for being awesome!
D&D IS FUN, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS
(This is me, the DM!) I have a few people I need to get ahold of tomorrow - sorry about the delay, guys, I just got back from Magfest today, and that involved a 16 hour train ride followed by a five hour drive, weeps. I was wiped out today.
Shit I might jump on this - I'm old hat to tabletop but I've not played any 5e and would love to learn the ropes of the edition
Lovely friend Tanz told me about this and OH MY GOSH, I am hyped.
I just submitted an application. Do I need proof that I'm a decent human being?
Most people on plurk would say yes, but they've also known me for over a decade and possibly suffer from Stockholm Syndrome.
officialbizness: Ha, no, I'm not asking for any kind of proof! I do want to chat with everyone for just a few minutes at some point individually before we start, just to pick out and explain character sheets and to go over the
flag
rule.
(Which I'll explain here briefly and more one-on-one- there's nothing in any of these d&d sessions that should make anyone uncomfortable, but if something hits a sensitive topic players are welcome and encouraged to message me with 'flag,' which means that something isn't great and that we need to move on. No explanations needed, and so far it hasn't been
abused, so I'm not about to ask anyone to justify anything.)
[happy dance] I can now put on my schedule, yesssss.
