Never filed taxes before until this year. Do I yolo-solo it, go to someone, use a program, or something else? #clueless
you can do them free on the h and r block site if you don't have a complicated one....it's pretty easy but you might just wanna go there too and pay if you are nervous
ok, how many w-2? any investments? do you have a house? do you work at home?
Tris if your still at home, I would just do it yourself.
You should be able to fill out an EZ. We haven't talked in a long time, so I'm not sure how much your situation has changed.
Tris pp me, this is what i do for a living
mishaselene: I was just typing it here but it would be smarter to not leave it public. Will PP!
if its just a simple w2 you can do it yourself and save money with a program like turbo tax
if its complicated like you are earning money from SL or something i would just take it to someone to do it and tell them so they can do the research
Seriously turbo tax on the web does a really good job
its basically "ARE YOU MARRIED? yes or no" questions lol
yep, it's a turbo tax deal
Going to go play with Turbo Tax's site. Thank you Misha and everyone else
Turbo tax is the beeeest!!
Yeah turbo tax is good, I usually do it for free since I just have a w2 to file
I presume these online doohickeys you can start, save, go back to edit/amend and stuff? Don't have to finish in one go?
I did mine over like 3 days while I was waiting for paperwork to come in, all in all it only took like an hour or so once I had all the paperwork to do it lol
Especially with TurboTax, if you have a super easy return (standard w2) it guides you through everything. Lots of yes/no questions, and then tells you to enter the numbered boxes and done lol
Since mine is so simple, EZ forms for both federal and state because I don't have enough to itemize and just take the standard deduction, I've just used the instructions and forms from the .gov and state websites. But since I've used those for several years, I'm accustomed to it. Sure it's a mess if you're new, so yeah, use a free program.
