So I joined the gym on a whim last night. About to go to my first group class this morning. I also booked personal training for tomorrow morning. Kind of freaking out about this.....

it will be fun! OK, maybe not right away, but it will be good. And also, a personal trainer is awesome! Go for it! :-)

I don't think it will be fun :/ I hate groups of people but I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone. Apparently the morning classes are way smaller though

The PT is good. That I'm excited about and if I like it I think I'll book in a session weekly

I train with a PT, in socalled : 'small group sessions'. Never more than 4 people (as I cannot afford 1/1 sessions) so I get what you mean! I do not like the big popular (cheap.....) gyms where you are with dozens of people...I am always afraid those trainers cannot give you the attention you need to sport responsible

EclecticWingtips: Good for you!! I'm starting a Zumba class next week. I'm nervous and excited. I'm terribly clumsy and just know I'll make an idiot of myself.

Oh you only get one on one PT at the gym which I paid for. Was pricey but I got a raise recently so it's affordable. This is a HUGE gym so I'm a little intimidated

PT's are pricey but so worth it, specially if you are new to it and need to learn how to train in a way that is good for YOU. :-)

If anything, a PT will teach you stuff you can do at home or in a gym, later.

the most important thing is, you need to be honest to them. The PT really needs to know all about your physics, so he can make a training that suits and helps you.

Mine always starts the session, every time......by asking: how are you feeling and is there something we need to pay attention to, did somethign happen...are you tired, did you pull a muscle, have you worked a lot etc,.,.etc...

The first few times I felt a bit awkward to tell..well, stuff, but now I know..it is for my own benefit to let him know what is going on, if anything.
