And that was the end of my engagement because yeah, trying to bait me back into conversation isn't trolling at all.
this dude's timeline is everything I hate about the Internet
if you actually sincerely wanted to learn something about misogyny "in the west" you could do research and read articles+blogs by the many many MANY women that have discussed the MYRIAD problems in society
Yep. Not like it's terribly difficult to find information in the most information-rich and well-documented segment of human existence.
and the fact that he clarifies w "in the west" shows how he fucking knows that the institutional oppression of women exists
he just wants to fake like Civilized Culture in the US is fine and anyone who says there is a problem is.........a liar??????
don't be disingenuous about how you "just want a conversation" when you could SO EASILY access spaces that would teach you something. you obviously have an internet connection.
if you "just want a conversation" but are willing to use a twitter rando's refusal to talk to you as proof that Sexism Is A Lie then.........i don't think you wanted a conversation at all
oh no i started googling for actual examples of institutional sexism
and the first thing that came up was a subreddit with the text excerpt reading "Since SRS insists that there's institutional misogyny I thought should ask where.
... Because that would, by definition, be examples of misandry."
tell me not to click on it
it wasn't so bad, just a little clueless about stuff.
the worst was someone saying that misogyny is real but that means misandry/male oppression also has to be since men are hurt in certain ways by society too.
and "When you argue that it really is misogyny because "it's the side effect of women being less valued in society", you are equivocating on the meaning of misogyny."
i would say instead of equivocating it is applying thought to the cultural reasoning behind harm done to men, but eh. POTATO POTAHTO.
that's better than expected, honestly.
yeah, i'm pleasantly surprised. which...says a lot. :\
and also, YIKES, ryan. i am sorry about the internet.
