a classic! I associate it with our neighborhood family-run red sauce and veal cutlet (not on the same dish) Italian restaurants. Then Tiramisu became popular and Zabaglione became harder to find.

I really dislike tiramisu - I hate the flavour of foods with coffee in, even though I love coffee as a drink.

mostly the opposite. Dislikes drinking coffee, loves some of the coffee-flavored foods.

with dopiaza on this. Never liked tiramisu. Not drinking coffee anymore either... but still love the smell.

I once baked a bread that called for some coffee in it. I put a lot less than the recipe indicated, and it was already inedible - too much coffee flavor.

I loved Chef John's sing-song presentation of his Zabaglione recipe.

I keep an empty coffee pouch in my closet for the aroma. :-D

Has never eaten anything like this - sounds great! Will have to make a run at it! Bonus: gives me an excuse to buy grappa

and here, I dislike both coffee and booze flavored things, so I'm guessing I wouldn't like this - though it looks nice. :-)

only semi-related: it's a small n and not the most careful procedures ever, but a group of my housemates did a taste test recently of some tomatoes, divided into two groups: (1) left at room temp the whole time

(2) refrigerated for a day or so, but then brought back to room temp before the taste test.

the small n of 3, in a less-controlled-than-it-could-have-been, but essentially blind, taste test, had a 100% rate of detection of the once-refrigerated set, which they all deemed inferior.

no idea whether strawberries would be the same. I know I do like them cold, though... and also the juiciness of them at room temperature. :-)

Well, tomatoes. I recommend you look at this: and do follow the link to read up on the original article that he refers to. It's an interesting read.

but strawberries are much more fragile than tomatoes. They won't keep well out of the fridge for more than a few days.

If you don't have access to an immediate fresh supply, refrigeration is the only way to avoid furry, mouldy berries.

I hate the wet cake in Tiramisu. BUt I also hate Zabaglione. I ADORE Italian food but not their desserts, except the almond cookies
