gonna rp. I am at work and cant see what its doing from my phone.
dae parsing issue comes up for many reasons...you could have too many faces, or there could be faces flipped, or double faces...it's really hard to know what is going on without checking everything lol
I think it's the most obnoxious error that an SL creator can get, cause it tells you nothing!
omg i wanna shoot myself.
should i like...check for normals or just find other creative ways of destroying my mental health more rapidly?
you can start there. go into edit mode, and hit W, then remove doubles
then in the tools pallet, while still in edit mode, click on the shading tab and hit recalculate normals
then export and try to upload again
however, if you have any tight edges where you want strong lines, removing doubles could take those out, so check the mesh after removing doubles before you continue, to be sure it's what you wanted
well none of those worked...
it's hard to troubleshoot without seeing it lol. how many faces do you have?
do i need to change the quads to tris or something?
nope. and your face count is fine too
she's insane with the smarts for this error. she's helped me on it a few times
noticed this on her cheeck. this can't be right....?
that's just how wirefeame is. it's weird sometimes. as long as it looks correct outside of wireframe, it's all good
should i import the eyes seperately since they're mesh spheres could that be it? can i link them to the head somehow?
that's it. i gotta bring the eyes seperately
well, they eyes can be attached to the system eyes, so definitely upload those separately. they don't "need" to be a part of the head
ok something is like seriously wrong. first of all the head looks completely wrong. it looks way too wide from what it was in blender and second of all i can't even rotate it it goes all fucked
i can see the head from the side and front the same time...what the actual fuck
the texture won't even line with the face that i baked with it
Sorry you are having so many problems! you are getting all the issues at the beginning, guess its a good way to learn!
yeah but like...this head is in like fourth dimension or something
i see the front and the back at the same time
it makes no fucking sense
i think it's like inside out or something like...i broke the laws of physics here and made another dimension
oh is it like that on the uploader or did you get it in world
i can send you a full perm one so you can see how fucked it is
ah im still at work but if its see through in world you might have alpha on on the texture or
if its inside out you'll need to recalculate your normals
but i did it right before i uploaded it
go to your texute tab and there will be something that says alpha blending
I get off in an hour but Tom may be takin me somewhere after work idk yet
ye i think i'm just gonna go watch xena untill i fall asleep.
aw ok well if you want toss it to me and i wil look when i get home
like the head looks wide and fucked like it did if you had the FOV numpad 5 whatever thingie. like nothing makes sense
it's in fourth dimension or something i dunno. god ugh
also i got the issue situated last night that was keeping me from rigging so now just gotta do it
well tossed you the full perm version of that freak of nature. knock yourself out. i think that mesh might be the answer to string theory and the whole M theory too. one of the 11 dimensions.
oh, have you applied your size/rotation and all that good stuff in object mode? if you mod mesh in object mode, and don't apply it, it will screw with the shape when you upload it
probably not....
in object mode, hit Cntrl A to open the apply menu, and tick size, then Cntrl A and rotation. you can do location too for good measure lol
ooh gonna do it tomorrow. gave up for the dsy
lol yeah. good to get away from it, and start fresh later. I need to learn to do that more often
ye it's 1am. won't get anything done when i'm tired
ooh ouch. to bed with ya!
Open your N bar, turn on backface culling. It will show faces as invisible if any are inverted. When you export as DAE, change OPERATOR PRESETS in the left on the dropdown to SL+OpenSim Static. It'll apply
all of your modifiers, anyway. If it's still giving you issues, try uploading with the standard SL viewer instead. There are definitely times it can handle errors that Firestorm can't.
And also try the CTRL+A to apply scale, rotation, and location tip.
thank youuu! will do that tomorrow. i love it how helpful you guys are
