Ok seriously, do I spend $20k linden on CreateMesh for the architecture lesson, or subscribe to Digital Tutors? Someone take my brain off the frying pan and help me please

Blazin: definitely DT. I'd hazard a bet that the CreateMesh people learned from Digital Tutors as well.

Blazin: digital tutors wont help you with the uploading to sl parts that createmesh does but im sure i could help with that if needed

yea see thats what im confused on=/ Im getting pretty good at modeling. Its what i do AFTER that Im lost on. Im just beginning to learn, but Ill just ask here, cause its prolly a really dumb question lol ...

I bought a mesh full perm shed, just to see how things work in sl. It came with UV maps. (Im not at this part yet in learning)..so it confuses me. What exactly are uv maps? Cause I put them on the shed and it

wasnt an actual texture. So what would I need to do? Make UV Maps, and then make actual textures for my creations?

Blazin: digital tutors have simple and easy to follow videos on uving in their introduction to maya courses, but the uv map that you found in the shed box is

essentially just a guide so you can texture using it, it makes it easier to see from the uv texture guide which part youre texturing on the 3d model, but uving is something you have to do before you can texture

i dont think itll help to try explain what uving is tbh because the digital tutor guys do a better job of it, but its really not hard to do or get your head around :-) its just the boring part of modelling
