quietly stepped outside, covered from head to toe in clothing. Even if it wasn't really winter clothing she had on, she was still trying to get use to the cold here.
still dressed in just jeans a hoodie, though with the running she's getting too warm for the sweater too. She waves at Angie when she notices her, purposely telling Suzie to go chase the other down.
smiled faintly and waved a little before noticing the animal coming towards her, making her step back a little. She mostly stood her ground though before petting the animal once she was close.
|Suzie jumps up and puts her giant paws on Angie's stomach, though pausing and nuzzling into the pets. Maddie laughs a little, following up behind her and eventually moving to pull the lynx back. Really, the
way she handled dangerous animals should probably make people wary. "Hey," she greets, sitting down on the edge of the deck's steps.
nodded and just put her hands in her pockets as she watched the animal move. She was a little wary, but figured if Maddie was this comfortable with them then everything was safe. "Hallo. Enjoying what's left >
smiels up at her and nods, pulling Suzie over to lay down beside her. "Yeah, I hate that it gets dark so early eh." She hums, offering the spot beside her for Angie. "Come out for a
smoke?" she guesses, knowing the other wasn't entirely fond of the cold.
sat down beside her and nodded as she was taking out her pack and lighter. "How'd you guess?" She smirked, enjoying that she could be sarcastic without offending the other. Or so she hoped.
isn't offended, she just laughs at her. "You're easy to predict, I suppose," she teases, petting Suzie absentmindedly.
nodded as she lit her cig, taking a long drag of it and making sure to exhale away from Maddie. "I can be difficult if I want to be, but I'm a little out of my element here."
grateful for the though, smiling at her. "What, too cold for you, or because Matt keeps throwing you off?" she grins teasingly.
puffed out her cheeks a bit. "The cold, lack of bikes, and my studio, mostly." She had tried not to think of the other Canadian much.
hums, shrugging a little. "We've got bikes in the garage eh? It's getting a bit cold for it though." She liked the huffiness, she thought it was a cute denial.
wasn't in any kind of denial! "Ja, but it's just not as... safe here, I guess. I'm a smooth biker at home, but here cars seem to get too close to comfort some times."
shrugs. "Well there are bike lanes for that... can't have them on the sidewalks though eh that's dangerous."
nodded as she took another few puffs. "I've just resorted to walking lately. I'm getting to know the area pretty well because of that though."
nods. "There's a few good walking paths around that I like, just be careful on 'em." She hums, letting Suzie get up to go hunt something she spotted. "Though it's good to know you can find your way around now."
watched the lynx carefully. "Is it really safe for her to be able to roam free and do what she wants...?"
blinks over at her. "...yeah of course, why not?" she replied, completely sincere about it. Suzie wasn't dangerous in her mind anymore.
shrugged as she tapped off the ash to the side of the deck. "She just seems a little dangerous to the humans and wildlife around."
shrugs. "To birds and mice maybe. And bunnies I guess but she's never hurt a person," she huffs.
looked at her, instantly worried about her rabbit. She would be devastated if anything happened to her. It was bad enough when Matthew played a joke on her...
takes a moment to understand the look of panic, but shakes her head. "Nahh, I'm sure Suzie knows that one's a pet.."
nodded as she tried to get her heart rate under control. "Goed... I'd be worried to let him roam around." She cherished the little rabbit to no end.
smiles sympathetically at her and nods. "I keep Suzie fed well so I'm sure it's not a problem. After all, she hasn't eaten your bunny yet, right?"
smiled a little to her. "That's true. I'm just not use to him being locked up. Back home he would always be out roaming around the house. He's a good boy."
nods. "I'm sure he'll be fine then eh."
finished off her cig and pinched the end before putting it in her pocket. She didn't want to just toss her garbage around for the other to clean up, so she just tossed them out when she got inside. For now >
though she wanted to stay outside with the other, starting to warm up against the weather. "Ja. He's normally fine, even without my supervision."
grateful her backyard isn't getting filled with cigarette butts. "So what are you doing for the holidays?" she hums.
shrugged as she leaned back on her arms. "I might go home... but... I don't know what I'd do. I still don't feel comfortable in my house, and it's not like my brother wants to talk to me."
blinks over at her. "What happened between you two anyways?" she asks, wondering why they didn't talk.
closed her eyes as she thought back to the moment. "It's a long story..."
hums softly. "If you don't wanna tell me, that's fine..."
opened her eyes a little after. "You're one of the only people I tell anything, and that's saying a lot." She shook her head a bit and sighed. "Our tempers just got in the way. I wanted him to stay with me, >
and he wanted to grow up..."
hums, smiling a little. "That's not unexpected," she replies.
agreed with that. "I just didn't want to let him go, I guess. I'm just glad he's happy. Or I think he is, at least."
hums softly. "You should try and fix your bond then, I'm sure if you apologized, you two could be close again.."
scrunched her face at that. "I doubt it. He's as stubborn as I am, and I don't apologize well. Unless it's to you."
rolls her eyes. "Right, you're shit at people skills. Maybe you should try anyways eh? You never know."
glanced over to her. "Maybe you could do it for me?"
pauses, and blinks over at her. "...you want me to apologize for you." She deadpans.
nods. "Or at least mention to him that I want to fix our relationship?"
hums at her. "You're ridiculous, you know that?"
shakes her head. "I've not heard that before." It was unlike her to talk this much normally as it was.
laughs a little. "Pretty sure I've told you it several times eh."
smirked a bit. "Okay, maybe from you. But no one else." She stretched out a bit. "What are your plans for Christmas?" She was wondering if she'd have to leave the house for a bit.
smiles at her, shrugging at the question. "Dunno yet. Thinking I'll go visiting, unless people want to come here. Usually me and Ali spend it together at least."
hummed at that. "I see... I can find a hotel for a few nights in that case. Give you two the house."
shakes her head. "Oh no it's fine if you'd like to join us eh?"
sighed. "I don't know... I don't really fit in with the family stuff here."
shrugs. "We're kinda dysfunctional too, if you haven't noticed."
nodded at that. "But... I'm still not really apart of this culture. And I have some of my own customs that I'm a little attached to..." She was feeling a tad home sick.
nods. "Well, it's to you of course.:
sighed and rubbed her forehead a bit. "I'll figure it out some time..." She didn't want to decide too quickly about this. Even if it didn't seem that big a deal.
shrugs, leaning back on her hands and looking up at the sky. "Your choice man, just let me know a day or two in advance eh."
nodded faintly as she pulled out another cig and lit it up. "Ja, I will."
hums softly, letting the conversation die out in favour of the silence that came with nighttime.
didn't mind it, since she was use to silence. She took a long drag off her cig, shaking her head a bit. The night seemed bitter to her.
smiles as Suzie finally comes back to them, the lynx laying down at Maddie's feet comfortably, apparently happy.
thought she was a rather cute lynx, and seeing her so obedient around Maddie made her feel safe that her rabbit would be okay.
starts to get cold after a while, still in just a hoodie after all. She refused to notice it though, simply pulling the lynx up to her lap to cuddle when she started to shiver.
thought that was a little cute. "She must come in handy a lot during the winter."
giggles a little as the lynx squirmed in her arms. "When she lets me cuddle, yeah."
smiled a faint bit from hearing her giggle. "I see. I'm glad my rabbit fits well in my lap then. He helps keep me warm."
smiles at that, finally getting Suzie settled and patting her head. "Not as big and warm as this big baby though," she laughs.
shook her head. "No, he's travel size though. Any where I go I have him as back up. And he's a good sleeping buddy, as long as he doesn't chew on my hair..."
chuckles softly. "Yeah, I guess that's true. Though you'd think hair wouldn't taste too great eh?"
rolls her eyes. "You'd think so, but apparently my rabbit enjoys to chew on it. If anything, it's a good wake up call when my alarm doesn't go off."
giggles a little. "What a pest," she says fondly. "At least you don't get this one trying to sit on your chest," she laughs, ruffling Suzie's fur.
nodded at that, truly thankful. "I doubt I'd be able to breath at all. With the weight of her and my chest, my lungs would be crushed."
laughs a little. "Oh don't be a baby, she's not that heavy." Really though, Maddie was just used to her.
wouldn't take her chances, she'd just cuddle her rabbit if she needed someone. It's what she normally did, since he was alone quite often.
starting to really shiver now, despite her Suzie-blanket. But she couldn't give in first, it was a matter of national pride!
rolled her eyes. "I'm not giving you my coat, so let's go inside. My feet are hands are starting to freeze anyways."
puffs her cheeks out a little. "...'m not cold," she portests, but shoves Suzie off and gets up to go inside anyways. "But I'll come in if you are."
smirked and got up, walking inside and stretching once she took her shoes off.
lets Suzie inside and closes the door behind them, toeing off her shoes. She was still a bit cold, but that would go away soon. "W-want a drink or something? I'm thinking hot chocolate."
licked her lips and nodded. "Ja. That would be perfect. Do you need help with it?" She wanted to get changed into some warm pajamas.
shakes her head. "Nah it's just the cheap powdered stuff, I can handle it," she laughs, setting on the kettle.
headed up the stairs and got changed, coming back down in some fleece pj bottoms and a thick sweater. She liked being warm and comfortable.
hums softly to herself, just finishing making two mugs of the stuff as she comes downstairs. "Here you are," she smiles, offering a mug filled with cocoa and marshmallows to her.
smiled a little and took the mug. "Thanks." She blew on it lightly and took a small sip, nodding. "It's still good."
laughs softly, taking a sip of hers. "Next time we should try adding peppermint schnapps."
licked her lips a bit at that. "That could be an interesting experiment. It's been a while since I've had any kind of spiced drink even."
chuckles softly. "I usually do it when I want a peppermint kick. It's good! And a bit more potent than adding a candy cane stir stick," she smiles.
went over to the couch and sat down, crossing her legs under her. "It sounds good. I'd really like to try that next time. Do you have hot chocolate a lot in winter?"
follows after her plopping down in her armchair, finally warming up again. "Yeah all the time! It's a better winter drink than even coffee or tea," she smiles happily, sipping her drink.
hummed and held the mug in her hands. "I'm only use to tea in the winter, but that's because I normally don't get that much snow..."
nods at that. "Yeah, I dunno, it reminds me of feeling warm and cozy. I like it."
swirled her drink around carefully. "I could kind of get use to this I think... Especially when the snow hits." She doubted she'd leave the house much if at al.
chuckles softly. "Well, coco mix is in the cupboard above the microwave when you want it," she smiles.
sipped more of her drink. "Thanks. I'll try not to use all of it."
shrugs. "It's okay I'kk just buy more eh?" she laughs.
finished up her drink a little after and nodded. "Ah... I wouldn't want to hog it all up myself though."
shakes her head. "It's no big deal, I buy a lot of it every year."
still felt a little guilty. She felt like she was a bit of a burden.
would tell her that she definitely is not.
would try and think of something to repay the other. That's what they normally did in Canada, wasn't it? She never did anything like that back home.
would tell her that thats only if she wanted too, it's not really athing she had to do though!
would probably just get her more tulips for her house... or weed. She had some really good types back home.
would be happy with either. >U<
