It really was. I think I didn't even realize how scared I was until after. It's weird what that sort of mental shock can do to you.

And it's funny, I still don't know which feeling was the strongest - the fear or the shame.

That sounds terrifying. I'm still scared of water I can't see the bottom of after a water skiing incident years and years ago.
