ufpleh: F-Secure is the antivirus I trust the most, but your best bet is to know what the infected file is so you can submit it to

virustotal.com. That'll tell you what scanners out there detect the virus and give you more information. Many sites also have removal tools

you can use for things like rootkits (which is what I had, along with some other nastiness). For malware, malwarebytes is a good tool, too
