i dont think plurk will rise to such level of popularity as twitter has...although its a laymans guess and i am no way an expert!
No. Plurk is more fun, but twitter makes buzz.

Still using Twitter. I only come to plurk when I have a real block of time to kill. Plurk is more confusing and less productive.

[uses] ping.fm to post to plurk, twitter and others... then checks for replys on each as and when he has time...
