I swapped Omastar out for Lumineon and I'm using Starmie EX and I'm winning about 1/3 to 1/2 of vs matches... still using Tentacruel ofc
Interestingly, the decks I DO lose against are often poison decks
I am only missing two cards out of the Mythical Island set now, also. One is Golem. The other is... I think some kind of Exeggutor EX maybe? Or maybe a Celebi EX? Unclear.
I'm playing around with a Pidgeot/Primeape (not the new one) deck also but I haven't decided what else to do with it. Marshadow seems like an obvious choice but that means the most damage I'm ever gonna do in a turn is 100 and nothing has very high HP
Which has gone poorly in test matches vs the PC, so....
Also, the new Raichu doesn't go well with Eelektross, meaning I'm still just not sure what to do with that deck
Even if I do have the silver emblem for the current vs event now....
Starmie EX is really solid
Two energy for that much damage? like, dang
YEAH and in a meta where you currently need to move FAST to beat the energy game of Celebi and Gardevoir decks...
Man, I'm currently running a Celebi/Serperior deck and I've had so many matches where I get Snivy or one of the evos I need as, like. The last card I draw
I hate starmie ex so much but it's bc it's extremely fucking competent
the lack of retreat cost feels really fucked up on top of the raw power and hp it has
Lumineon also has a free retreat cost
yeah but the amount of damage it does is far less
I added pidgeot ex to my deck for the damage output. And some fire energy for the druddigon. And additional pidgy+eot so I can run both if need be rather than having to choose. Still not the most consistent deck. But an improvement
Lumineon is still really good in my deck if I can keep little fish alive. 50-100 damage to non-basic ex puts them in range of Tauros or pidgeot
I do pretty decently against Charizard decks. And I can win against celebi if fish helps me ko the serperior
I've weirdly been having a lot of success with a butterfree/pidgeot (not ex) deck lately. I threw it together without thinking it would do much, but the abilities give you a lot of control over what's going on
And tbh I think it helps that people probably think I am going to play at least one ex
that was an idea I had for a direction my deck could go, but I couldn't decide between butterfree or Weepinbell to pair with Pidgeot
butterfree might be a better synergy though
I haven't tried weepingbell, but butterfree has definitely been doing well by me!
too bad they're 3 stages. if one was a 2 stage, I'd be on board with using both
Awkwardpossum: Yeah. The reason I caved and put Starmie in is because I needed something that couldn't be one-shot by a Misty-enhanced Articuno on turn one, and ideally also could survive a lucky early flip by Celebi.
Omanyte could theoretically survive the Articuno, but not if they had Giovanni, and it only has 90 HP so Celebi could nuke it
But after the third time I got obliterated by an Articuno I was like. Okay that's enough.
I like Starmie because it's not as overwhelmingly powerful as most EX mon, it's fast and it hits PRETTY hard but it still doesn't one-shot most fully evolved 'mon. So it feels fairer than... most anything else.
(I'll concede that I preferred using a Marowak deck because the coin flip felt fairer than Starmie but you basically can't use Marowak atm.)
im currently having a great deal of fun with am alakazam/beehyem deck that has the florges line for stalling/support
the satisfaction of hitting a celebi ex that's beefed up by serperior with like. 240 damage.
Exeguttor is also very good for that, but also typically needs Serperior on the bench
