ON ONE HAND--cool, more of a chance for new artists to try their hand at AX!
ON THE OTHER HAND isn't AX like known for it's massive high quality AA????
like it's a big draw for it
some people go to AX just to go to the AA for the whole weekend, yea
my cynical brain is like “this is one way to replace vet artists with AI-“
that was my first thought. "oh it's gonna get flooded with AI"
AI USERS CAN ALSO SPAM BOTS FOR THE LOTTERY?
how much vetting are they doing with a lottery...
I would be very curious to know what prompted the change but cynically i would guess it's a money-saving tactic so they don't have to review AA registrations and just lotto them out
celifairy: THIS WAS LITERALLY THE PATH MY MIND TOOK LOLOL
I imagine they'll also use this as an excuse to raise the table prices as well since. lol. AX.
yeeeaaahhhhh I'm having the same thoughts as you: yay new artists but yeah the quality is gonna drop REAL LOW
plus ax chibi sure was the first con I saw that had a booth selling blatantly ai merch, so I don't trust their vetting process at fucking all
get ready for dropshippers IN YOUR AA
Yeah I def did ax just for the artist alley and there is some stuff there that made it worth the suffering
I WANDERED AWAY but yeah I'm like. p-psyduck psyduck
also to my knowlege, all artists at AX are NOT oldbies, they let lots of new ppl in every year??
they just have a seperate app for ppl who have been there before
lol this is no way they community will take this well
rainpuddles: yea a bunch of artists are already emailing them
also some ppl are saying that older artists are gatekeeping and like
AX is NOT for newbies lmao
it costs so much and the will lose so much wheeze
there's a difference between new artists (artists that have been doing it a while but never done the show) and baby artists. SOME OF YALL NOT READY,
plz kids being at AX does not just guarantee you dollars
also i think some international artists only come for AX???
gawd I HAVEN'T BEEN TO AX SINCE 2005 AND STILL I'M LIKE
this seems bad. THIS SEEMS BAD
since if i ever went to AX myself it'd be solely for the AA too
'ash don't you wanna sell there' fuck no i have a full time job i ain't built for that,
they're even talking about it on the eu artists server
the general opinion there is maybe new artists have a chance too, that veteran system is stupid
personally? I'd also include a judging system
playdespacito: iirc that was part of the old system, judging i mean
I COULD BE WRONG CUZ I DON'T AX but they had 3 tiers i think
Vets (artists that have been there 10+ years in a row), rebooks (artist that were there last year but it's a fcfs, not all of them get to rebook) and then 100-200 new, never tabled at AX before artists that are juried
but now...free for all....
and again AX is not for the faint of heart. I've seen some lucky newbies get into it and then be baffled when they don't make profit wheeze
if they screen and jury behind the scenes, awesome, good to g!! if not. well i will be popcorning on the 4th next year lol
imagine waiting in line to get into AX for 2-6 hours and it's full of middling art, people who were way under prepared, and AI.
People go to AX because of the extremely high quality of the events and offerings (or. they did. 2019 was pretty bad tbh and then covid. who knows what it's like now not me that is for sure)
lol they will not screen it out, I have friends who worked for AX and that's an organizational nightmare on top of the barely held together catastrophes happening in the background
now u have your own dokomi 🫣🥲
gaisce:
welp. ganbatte AX artists
