I hear you. I fled the country. I’m in Guatemala. They will still celebrate Christmas, but I can treat it as an adventure in discovering another culture. For Thanksgiving, a holiday they don’t celebrate, I had a turkey empanada.

Additionally, on Saturday, they are going to “Burn the Devil”. I’m also invited to an x-pat solstice event. I think that might be what the Christmas season is missing--fire and pagans.
