we completely unwired and rewired the switchboard because the thing was fucking dangerous AF

instead of coming into the back(with all the armored metal jacket still on inside the switchboard) it comes in to the top with the proper connectors

all this shit is in accordance with CFR 46, coast guard regulations.

all tied down and terminated with the bus bars actually accessible if work needs to be done on the switchboard. nothing touching the sides without rubber for vibration purposes.

rephased every conductor coming in, just gotta do a few more where the breaker termination is damaged but. God. I am so thankful it's basically done.

this is the hole in the back that they need to fabricate a new cover for. it was always that open with the cables coming in the back, so you can literally reach your hand in and electrocute yourself if you feel so inclined. this was taken on Sunday so it's all cleaned up now.

some of the painters leaned up against the cables coming into the back of the switchboard before and the armor shorted the bus. it is ridiculous that this boat was commissioned in 1967 and no one did anything about it since then.

Some oldster on the crew has been hazing newbies for 50+ years by telling them to stick their hand in that hole in the back.
