My husband brought a stack of about 2 dozen rag rugs that I made to work today. They're all gone.

I have an antique weaving loom, designed for making rag rugs. https://images.plurk.com/5NP4o3L1uMmT1yASw0ADtO.jpg https://images.plurk.com/5aMoVRaqZtGqPn6vh9Zj7n.jpg https://images.plurk.com/5pABmyEzMozDJhSf6bzOyK.jpg

Cool! What do you use for rags? Actual rags? Pre-cut cloth? Turns out the catalogne we've been asked to weave is for a rug (two, actually), so it won't use the current setting of the loom. Although we have cloth, it's not cut for weaving, and the ladies will be super busy until Christmas, so we'll weave with "mop cord" (not sure how it's called in English)

and make some covers or throws. That's the plan, anyway.

The loom is set for 8 yarns per inch, and I mostly use old shirts, jeans, and bedsheets. My husband bought me an industrial rotary cutter to make fabric prep easier.

I have heard of mop cord but I haven’t used it.

Back before the turn of the century when I was weaving rag rugs I just loved corduroy. Just be sure to wear a mask when ripping the strips. Actually I guess that applies to any fabric but corduroy doubly so

Definitely a good tip. I cut the denim outside whenever possible
