been finding plurk slow & unresponsive lately, like much of the internet, but I'm on a dodgy phone line anyway.

on a dodgy phone (copper) line as well. Not so bad that any individual thing should be slow (maybe slower than you want, like downloading a movie taking 30 minutes rather than a preferred 10), but regular disconnects.
Plurk can do weird stuff.
