luckily, it was 1) the screen protector of 2) my old phone I was using as a backup
but that's TWO in ONE WEEK
I brought my newer phone to get the screen replaced yesterday and I hadn't switched back to it yet so I'm grateful for that at least since I don't have a drop-proof case or protector for that one
Though my case didn't save this one either... looks like it hit a few pieces of tarmac or pebbles??? There's definite points of impact anyway
Managed to scrape up my knees this time though
Are YOU okay? /rushes to put band-aids on knees
Rocksintreetops: I am
my knees hurt and I think I bruised up the heels of my hands but nothing too serious!!! I will take the bandaids though🥹
...also one of the shatter points on my phone looks like a squashed bug every time I see it through peripheral vision
both times I've had phone damage were dumb accidents so I truly sympathize
the first time I had a damaged screen I just... was using my phone as I was walking to work and it just slipped out of my hand and landed directly in a parking lot. the case didn't help at all because it was a fold-over case and I was using it
If you've only ever had phone damage twice I'm very very very impressed
the second time was my current phone which happened even with a case on it and honestly wasn't a bad drop but it still put a crack right through it
both times I can blame the weird bevel to introducing stress points tbh
the first time I bought a screen protector and put it over the cracked screen because it still worked, but was unsafe to touch
that extended the life of that phone for years
I don’t think I’ve ever actually damaged a phone
Sounds terrifying and upsetting and stressful
Rocksintreetops: I've never ruined the inner workings of one (other than one time when a battery started swelling but that wasn't my fault??) but hooooooboy I've wrecked many a screen
pbdigital: oh clever! If my screen cracks I replace it but most of the time a screen protector will prevent that from happening thankfullyyyyyy
Though I've. Uh. Definitely gone the "clear packing tape over cracked glass" route before too.
I think the worst that’s happened to me was the case got scraped a little
Rocksintreetops: you take much better care of yourself and your phone than I do :C
My phone's like my controller to my insulin pump, so... yeah plus it's charging on my toolbox at work most days lol
Rocksintreetops: that would definitely do it gkjgjdhdla but yes taking care of phone is so important...
I went to the doctor because in less than 24h it's gotten all red... and the doc was like :T at it "How dirty was the place you fell?" And I went
"...the crosswalk, so uh." and he kind of blinked at me and then prescribed me antibiotics Because he said thst if it's gotten that red in 24 hours there's definitely something causing inflammation/infection under the skin
Oops 😬so now I have antibacterial ointment and three days of antibiotics 👍
