Incidentally, the Wild Rice river that flows from our lake passes the Mississippi along Hwy 2. If you were canoeing you could portage across the Hwy and go to New Orleans, but it you wanted to stay on the Wild Rice, you could take it to the Red Lake River from there to the Red River of the North up to Hudson Bay. A choice just 4 lanes apart.
