sef_lopod: The way I accomplished this (so far) is pretty questionable. They are literally glowing. I have to figure out how to get them to not require that without having a 100 million W light source.

checked, and they aren't emissive, I just had a light which was below the plane that they were floating above. Not that the plane was anything physical.
