i mostly just follow friends of friends and decide whether to add them as one of my friends. i don't know of any actual search tool.

besides adding people from your email/facebook/etc.

I had no luck with GMail search, and the twitter tool seem to look at only a limited number of ppl. So I look at friends of friends here.

i just tried the twitter one, too, and it worked miserably.
