especially with more difficult poems like Howl.
if you want a shorter poem of his that's pretty good as well, read "Supermarket in California"
I definitely just read that in class today, during a lull in the conversation. It's right after Howl in the text.
That's one great thing about poetry. A lot is left open to interpretation.
Especially in a poem like Howl, where there are so many layers of meaning. I think I'd drive myself mad if I tried to understand every word-
like you said, it's the larger picture that matters.
