I think I thought more of Norse mythology than Greek mythology. I thought of Ragnarok when they made allusions to Armageddon..

The oral tradition aspect made me think about the Illiad and the Odyssey...

it was pretty much the oral tradition part. and all the grandfathers reminded me of olympic gods.
