The accents are hard to read, its slowing me down, yea i do think they are a bit much, i got no problem with spelling words differently...

but at least finish spelling them out, don't just take sections of the word out completely. Also the "see"s are driving me crazy

yeah they are difficult to read. I feel myself going backand re-reading the sentence outload. It's just a little over-done!

I had to go back and re-read a few passages. I believe that Crane’s diction helped in defining the characters and their quality of life.

Not sure, because I've read literature like this before, but I do think it brings something to the story. Makes it feel more real

I think it brings many different aspects of realism to the story: cultural background, social status, education, immigration, etc...

yes! It made it difficult for me to really follow the story line. It was distracting.

I agree with Matty. It gives the story a better sense of realism. The dialouge also served as a way to further develop the characters.

It would have been untrue to the time/setting/characters had slang had not been used.

i have mixed feelings about the use of slang. i think it adds a lot to the story but then it makes it more difficult to follow
