yeah I do the talking over discord and the playing on a site called roll20

me, I just don't keep the webcam turned on. everyone else can have theirs on but that doesn't mean I have to

the webcams are on roll20 and you can switch them off so you don't even have to see others

I... do that, not because I hate my friends' faces but I like to see more of the game map

anyway that's how I play online. I like having a map with tokens on squares because it helps me visualize what's going on better

yeah! chris had us doing a thing like that. some site for that and junk. with a map

while using 2 IRC channels, one for OOC and rolls and one for IC stuff

the first time I played was in meatspace, and we did not have a game board, just verbal descriptions, so it was easy for me to lose track of what was going on especially since I played with a very... distracting... distracted... group of people

so to have a map was like... revolutionary for me

anyway im going to talk about my wizard now, since i was doing that thing where you mention something briefly and wait for someone to ask about it, so that then youre not just coming across as self absorbed and just suddenly talking about your own shit with nobody showing interest first

but like, screw it its my plurk and im gonna talk about what i want

his name is immeral! hes an eladrin. which i understand is just like... elves, but even elfier. even taller. very regal and refined

immeral on the other hand is very short, has a bad temper, and is generally just sort of a dick

and from a young age, loved the idea of magic, because- holy shit, fire is cool you guys

and being able to just make it anytime you want would be even cooler

so he went to like, a magic academy when he was old enough, where he proved to be... pretty mediocre. not great, not bad. hes alright at magic. definitely not the best. but he makes up for it with quick wits and creativity. or so he likes to think anyway

aaaand then he got kicked out because hes a little shit with a bad attitude and absolutely no respect for authority. and also he burned down a very significant portion of the campus

you might think that growing up and learning stuff might have helped him see more applications for magic outside of destruction and fire, but. no, he has stubbornly maintained his childish outlook on the craft

i love him already

people will ask him, do you really need to juggle fireballs EVERY time youre just sitting around waiting for something. and he is flabbergasted by the question, because like. he can do that. he can just do that, and why would he ever NOT do that?

(hes banned from most places with lots of flammable stuff)

and like!! who cares if he got kicked out of magic school, whatever!! hes got enough know how anyway, and hes going to go out and be an adventurer with his talents, and youre all going to be jealous!!!!

(he also had kind of a crush on the groups bard, who had a perfect charisma score, was so handsome he sparkled, and killed a dragon by insulting it)
