the answer to my problem of being able to install more apps to my filled netbook was to create an encrypted drive in truecrypt and mount it

... in the Disk Management tool, then tried to create a VHD on the card, then tried it with the subst command, but it wouldn't work.

trying to install VS2008 on this netbook, but there isn't enough space. I tried using a storage card, then tried to add it as a drive...

...but thankfully it works fine now after restarting both the drive and the computer. Wooh! That could have sucked.
