His parents were definitely a major part in his need for adventure, escaping, etc.
Fueling the fire, as it were.
And then there's society and government, and money and expectations, and relationships.
I think his relationships because dimmer and dimmer, until the only relationship he cared about was the one he had with nature
and also the one he had with himself.
He spent so much time alone in the wild, he began to think that only his way and nature's way was an expectable "way'.
I think it was almost his way of protecting himself, by getting out into the wild.
Maybe that's where he felt safe, with the things that wouldn't harm his soul, his being, like money could.
me too..he almost became obsessed with the idea of this experiential existence..he sort of lost touch with what we believe to be reality
he was also so angry with his father.. i think that really screwed him up. betrayal is something a lot of people do not deal with well
