noticed that there are quite a few people who have signed up to Plurk, plurked only about 4 times and then disappeared. Why is that?

I certainly wouldn't! No, it was more people who I like following on Twitter and elsewhere who seem not to have given Plurk a real go?
Queen P

i guess it can take a while to get used to it and probably depends on the people u r plurking with...
tigertwo

that's very true. Plurk is a far more 'chatty' place than Twitter.

Maybe those people realised that they were not as cool as us.
Queen P

yes it is way more interactive so some people might not like it
Queen P

the fact that Plurk is like this, and not always 'business focused'.
Queen P

I think Plurk may become more marketing focused when the population of greater Plurkistan reaches a marketing critical mass.
Queen P
says

we are still marketing ourselves, but i would hate to see Plurk turning out to be marketing focused only..
Queen P

It is more about relationship or soft marketing. We are building our virtual personal network.

and may it stay that way. I understand why advertising is necessary but I still don't like it.

Without some sort of advertising I am not sure how Plurk will Survive. Apparently Twitter Japan has advertising.
Queen P

I suppose it is advertising or charging in some ways...
