Tidus is one of my favorite FF protags.

He’s had a sucky early childhood with parents that weren’t equipped to be parents.

I have a lot of feelings about him.

Jecht understood that it was important for a parent to be consistent

unfortunately he was mostly just consistent at being an asshole

Hecht wasn't able to deal with a son that wasn't a macho man.

A lot of people will/did say that Tidus was just whiny. But we only really saw Jecht after he got sober.

I feel like the "Tidus was whiny!" take is probably on about the same level as "Shinji is such a wimp!" takes about NGE
