god the system is just. so.
so, he was being held (for ? amount of time) before going to statesville (for ? amount of time) so he could go before the parole board to find out if his parole was actually served concurrently like they'd said, or if they decide for some reason that it wasn't
if concurrent, like had been agreed, he's like three weeks over his release date. but he just kept sitting around in jail, his public defender even was like I don't know what could be taking so long???
so, suddenly, the abruptly told him to pack up his things and that he was being released.
not taken to statesville at all
no one was ready for this gfhdkjg
and so they asked him what his address is, but he's like... I don't have it memorized, and you took away all my things so I don't know??
so, they said he had to be taken to this certain halfway house (in a VERRRYYYY bad part of Chicago) and told to stay there until he can get ahold of the parole guys.
so, suddenly, everyone is scrambling to figure out how to go get him and take him to some chicago halfway house ghfdkjg
luckily, my sister's husband leaped into action and volunteered, and sped out to go drive him there
they'd released him so late, that by the time he got to this halfway house, no one is answering the door, no one is answering the numbers on the piece of paper that my brother was given
finally a guy answers FURIOUS for calling him that late at night. he eventually let my brother in, but did not let him forget it.
I want to say mom said it was somewhere between 11pm and midnight. so like. that's how late they decided to release him.
SO WHERE THINGS ARE RIGHT NOW
my brother is really frickin confused, many balls have been dropped. he never went before the parole board, so he now has to wait until he can get ahold of anyone. he has only the one set of crappy clothes he's wearing. he can't even get them washed because he has nothing to wear.
he can't even go near the front door until he gets an ankle monitor
so things are really confusing, no one knows what's going on, whether he still has parole to serve or whether he's free, don't know when he'll be able to go home, etc.
he's in an extremely dangerous neighborhood in chicago, so we have to wait until my sister's husband can drive and deliver him another change of clothes.
the good news is that his roommates are actually really cool, one of them let him borrow his phone to call my mom and tell her all this
he says he's being fed, and he's actually in a BED for the first time in three years. he said he's just been sleeping and sleeping and sleeping. and he sounds good!
so, in the most confusing and clumsy way possible, he is at least officially out of prison. gfhdkjghkjd
oh my god he's so close!!!
like how has be been released but he's somehow still not done being completely tangled in the system gfhdkj
this could and should have been done at the end of september
but he's at least in a bed!!!
OH I remembered part of it. I knew there was another point to the whole "someone fucked up" think
aside from them calling in the middle of the night, he was also pissed off because my brother wasn't supposed to be there until monday morning
instead of thursday night or whatever
oh my god I am so sorry but I am also so glad
not that it... is the end but ??
