TL;DR my mom lost her shit and got me arrested with a Battery FV charge and it's gonna be an entire year until I can argue my case and get that removed

Unless the judge is just extra shitty, it should be removed due to me being... ganged up on by said mom and her boyfriend, aside from the part where I very lightly slapped her boyfriend (which is what got me jumped)

Naturally, having a charge like this is going to make finding a job very difficult, in places.

So what I need is: does anyone know of employment opportunities for folks where this showing up in a background check wouldn't be an immediate "nope, nope, nope" from the employee?

I hate asking for help but I am taking a break from school and really need something part-time... ASAP, because I need to pay a family member back for helping me out of there, need to contribute to where I'm living, and am to a point where I will try anything regardless of physical demands (within reason)

walmart will hire people with something on their record as long as it isn't like ... murder or stealing
Working for a staffing agency for a company will usually work out in terms of background checks, but the pay is obviously worse.

Honestly I am okay with low pay since it's just meant to help us out until I'm done with school. Now that my girlfriend is getting something for her art we aren't like... risking homelessness or anything like we'd been doing ;;

Walmart is a last resort since I still remember just how miserable I was in that environment but I will keep them on the list at all. (hey maybe the one here isn't as bad as the other one)

here via replurksville; what kind of skills do you have, and are you comfortable working in substance use disorder treatment environments. because I might have some listings via professional network but it's nothing where I could give a reference -- however I know they hire people with this kind of record
also from replurks, but:Jobs for Felons in Pennsylvaniathis may give some help in places that aren't Wally World! i know when i was doing temp recruiting, some places really didn't care as long as you didn't cause problems. warehouses are mostly like this, but i know warehouse work isn't for everyone.
if you go through a staffing agency, be up front with them about what happened and that you're fighting it as it is a false charge. knowing that that is the ONLY thing that pops up is helpful, from my own temp agency experience.

skeletone: I'd be able to work in that environment, yes. Thanks! I'd love to see the listings

infel: Oh that's very helpful and reassuring, thank you! I'll give this a look and check out agencies around here
not a problem! i'm not in PA but generally staffing agencies are the same. if someone had a random charge on their bg but it was clean otherwise, most of the time it wasn't an issue for us. like, it mattered for Amazon (i worked for their staffing agency, but on the non-Amazon side) but everywhere else? not really.
some might have to turn you down, but some places will have felony-friendly work. it sucks to have to say that, but hopefully you can get it overturned and get it expunged, i'm rooting for you!

Thank you so much I'm gonna fight to the end for that, frankly
