Looking back, it is rather unfortunate as to what seemed to be a massive timing issue. Yes, I meant what I said that time (I forgot the exact date, but as far as I know it was around the time I was abroad). But because of the response I got, while understandable, I just decided to cut it off.

But you have to understand... up to that day, I have received unfavorable responses all my life, and the "sunk cost fallacy" was definitely a thing at the time, so I tried my best to avoid it. And unfortunately, I was successful in doing that.

The month after, I will confess, I am fully aware of the change in situation and intentions, but I just turned a blind eye on all of it. But again, in hindsight, it does seem a bit rude, and I should've been more transparent. But I dunno, I think I thought being silent was better, as talking too much never really resulted in anything good.

By the middle of January, my focus has fully shifted. I only decided to join the event in February as a friendly gesture (and because it was a requirement)... And that was the end of that.
