I used to read and refer to LifeHacker, and, well
it depends. reviews for what tech?
right now, I'm looking for headsets/headphones and peripherals like keyboards, sound equipment, mices and shit
Specifically rn I have to replace my Razer Kitty headset because the usb cable'S all fucked up, they keep disconnecting and reconnecting all the time and the ear cuffs are giving me sores
I'm thinking of open-backed earphones maybe cuz my ears sweat a ton
hmm. well, when it comes to headphones, I tend to just stick with what I know, or try things my friend Ian gets in at his shop - or ask an audiophile friend of mine. but on that last count, if you'd use a bluetooth solution, I have an odd suggestion: I got a FiiO BTR3 from said friend. they're available on AliExpress for like $50USD new. they're a bluetooth
receiver that you'd plug any regular corded headset/earphones thing into. I use it to connect to my tablets for music and youtube and whatnot. and then for the headset part, I've been listening on Gumy earbuds - the flat-front style ones, like the original Apple earbuds - or a pair of vaguely a little broken but totally workable Beats By Dre headphones that
another friend gave me... or a mostly-working Afterglow gaming headset that I adore but is super heavy. that friend has also pointed me toward a brand called Moon Audio that he says is on Amazon, if someone wants inexpensive but good-sound-for-the-prices headphones.... so that's one rec right there.
(I lean toward "clear treble and mid, and extra bass".)
but I think the best recs for headphones are just going to be like that: ask around, get opinions from people you trust, especially when they have firsthand experience. if you want, I can hunt down exactly what headphones I'm talking about online, so you can see for yourself if any of those designs appeal to you?
(I intend to look into the Moon ones soonish, too.)
...also, my brother and dad have been into the "bone conductive" style of headphones lately too. bluetooth-connected, and they go around the back of the head, and rest in front of the ears, thus leaving the ears entirely open and uncovered. it's not what I'd consider amazing for sound quality myself, but I could double-check theirs if you're curious,
and find a listing or something to point you in that direction? but the big upsides of those are, they're light, they don't cover you up like earmuffs, they're actually pretty comfy, and they leave your ears open, so you can still hear everything else, too - they don't block out outside sound, unlike my Beats headphones. (my Gumy earbuds also don't, though.)
as for the keyboards and mice and stuff... I'm not really a pc gamer, so I'm not sure my own recs are going to help much? I tend to just connect my PS4 controller to my lil Surface, to play PSP and PS2 games on emulator.

but I bet the good people on Plurk here have some opinions, depending on what kind of thing you're looking for?
//raises hand
anyone know a good printer that can handle card stock?
Nightsail: I should have clarified, I'm not looking for mice/keyboards for gaming, I'm looking for ergonomic stuff for working. I'm not a PC gamer either!
same idea, though. I just use what my laptops have built in. the only mice I own are cheap $2 things; I only even have one because some programs get fussy about it when I use either the trackpad or my Wacom tablet. sorry.
