She is so pretty, and she’s warm and kind and thoughtful and intelligent and we’ve been having the most wonderful conversations and I’m dying to ask her out on a date

We don’t actually have a TON of common interests-tastes in movies, a love of books and pets, a love of music is definitely a big one-but she’s not remotely a gamer and we have very different music tastes. I had to explain what a video essay was to her lol

But I think ... I’ve always been a big proponent of the idea that you don’t have to perfectly match your partner in hobbies, and in a lot of ways it can be a healthy thing if you DONT share every hobby. Then you have something to teach one another, and also things to enjoy on your own in your me time

We just had this deep ass convo tonight about what our ideal relationship looks like and basically said the same thing to each other with slightly different wording and I found that so charming and affirming

I asked her out to coffee almost straight away but that was when The Sky Apocalypse was happening (the fires over the east coast) and frankly neither of us was feeling great but I’m determined to ask her on a date this weekend! Obviously some shared interests are important....being able to share and do things together is vital. But a lot of times that can be something your grow into with someone! You learn to share new hobbies, you get new interests together, etc. And then it’s okay and healthy to have lots of your own stuff!

Yeah, I completely agree! And that’s the mindset I went in with. Funny enough, the people I connected to who DID share my hobbies just fizzled out super fast. The conversations just kinda didn’t go anywhere
