Context: Tekno the Canary is one of the more popular characters created for the UK series, Sonic the Comic.

They're a gadgeteer genius, replacing Tails in that role (because Tails isn't in this continuity), and has a close relationship with Amy Rose—close enough that it was very common amongst the fandom to ship them, not unlike Tangle and Whisper in the IDW comics now.

They also had a small shout-out in the Archie series with another StC character, Ebony the Cat (#134)… which caused the fandom to throw a shitfit, and led the writers to announce that they refused to make any such references going forward.

This is why we can't have nice things.

More recently, though: In the "unofficially official" continuation, Sonic the Comic-Online—which has not only been approved by the writers of the original series, but also had a hand in writing some of the issues—they aren't a friend anymore, and Amy and they are romantic partners.

Turns out fandom can have nice things after all

For the record: I am willing to accept (most) anyone with open arms, regardless of race, sex, gender, orientation, disability, neurotypicality or neurodiversity, weirdness level, and/or anything else that I may be forgetting.

Hatred and bigotry will not be tolerated here—and the above argument falls under "heteronormativity", and is very hurtful. It assumes and implies that anything non-heterosexual is detrimental to society, can be spread, and will lead to the decline of the human population… and (to put it mildly), that is complete and utter bullshit.

Note that I am not gay, bi, or pan; trans or enby. I am a Black cismale that's neurodivergent and aromatic… but even if I weren't, I still believe that everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect, until proven otherwise.

I understand there may be ignorance from time to time, and we may not understand certain concepts. I understand that we may not agree on everything. However, the point is to understand each other, and accept each other for who we are. If you come here, and proceed to sling shit, then don't be surprised if you get flushed down the toilet.
